**Game Name Here** (working title “Bounce”)

Concept and Design: Chris Mason

Fabrication: Chris Mason

Programming: Chris Mason

Electronics: Chris Mason

The hardware has been mostly built but there is still a lot of work to be done on this game.

It needs:

  • Name!
  • Theme
  • Cabinet Artwork
  • Backbox/Marquee Artwork
  • Better Graphics
  • Better Sound Effects
  • Improved Game Rules

We need your suggestions and help to develop this game further. Feel free to add suggestions to the whiteboard or let us know if you would like to be involved. You could find your name on the credits screen!

Construction:

MDF, Timber and 3D printed parts

Hardware:

1 x Arduino UNO – Playfield Lights

1 x Arduino Mega – Playfield Sensors

1 x Raspberry Pi 3 – Game Logic and Graphics

Air Hockey

Concept and Design: John-Paul Pochin

Fabrication: Mark Soperman, Larisse Hall, John-Paul Pochin

Programming: John-Paul Pochin

Electronics: John-Paul Pochin

This project started with the 'Leap Sensors'. The Sensors have the ability to sense the position of your hands and fingers and I ended up with two of them – What game could you make with two hand sensors – Air Hockey of course!... But what other games could we make?

If you've ever wondered what all that trigonometry that you are learning or have learnt in maths class would be useful for, well it's very useful when writing games! All the collisions and movement of the players and the puck in this game use trigonometry.

Air Hockey was programmed in Java and uses the OpenGL 3D libraries.

Hardware:

2 x Laptops

2 x Arduino

2 x Leap Sensors

TV Screen

Recycled Computer Fans

Laser Lander

Concept and Design: John-Paul Pochin

Programming: John-Paul Pochin

Electronics: John-Paul Pochin

A simple game, the aim of which is to safely land a space ship on the platform... but there is a catch :- Landing the space ship requires two people. One person controls the rotation of the space ship,l the other the thrust. Find somebody who can help you.

Hardware:

Laser System

Arduino Microcontroller (handles the controller inputs)

Raspberry Pi (Runs the games and controls the laser)

Custom built ILDA Interface

Computerised Puppet Show

Concept and Design: John-Paul Pochin

Fabrication: John-Paul Pochin

Programming: John-Paul Pochin

Electronics: John-Paul Pochin

Puppet Characters: Alison Abernethy

This project started as an idea for Light Nelson as a mechanical shadow puppet show for the 2016 event but with too many other projects there wasn't time to build it. The Arcade provided the opportunity to revisit the project and try out some ideas. A very big thank you to Alison who created the characters for the puppet show using her original artworks.

The project is designed to introduce the idea of programming in a simple fun way.

Hardware:

12 x servos

I2C Servo Controller

Arduino Nano

Laptop
